Göran Högberg and Midde Hamrin were the first historic winners in the history of Göteborgsvarvet when they were the first to cross the finish line in 1980. They are also two of the 15 runners who have won the competition more than once.
Högberg was the fastest in the second edition as well, while Hamrin won her second victory in 1984 and then also won in 1987 and 1990. Together with teammate Mats Erixon, she is the most successful with four triumphs. Erixon won four years in a row, from 1984 to 1987.
The latest Swedish winners are Lena Gavlin in the women's class (2002) and Mustafa Mohamed (2004).
