Do you think Göteborgsvarvet´s 21,1 km is a little too far? Are you in the beginning of your running career? Do you rather run really fast on a shorter course? Do you want to experience the great atmosphere around Göteborgsvarvet without having to run a half marathon? Then Cityvarvet might be the perfect choice for you. The race starts at Götaplatsen at the top of Gothenburg's parade street, festive atmosphere is given! The track continues down Avenyn, into Vasagatan, along Övre Husargatan, into Slottsskogen and to the finish line at the classic Slottsskogsvallen. We recommend that runners up to the age of 13 runs together with an adult.

Prize for the three fastest runners in each age group G/B15, G/B17, G/B19, Women and Men.

Cityvarvets Arena:Start and finish

As a runner in Cityvarvet, you get to take part in the Runner Zone at the finish line, just like the runners of Göteborgsvarvet. A place for recovery, snacks and drinks. Here you can enjoy the moment and your performance.

Race Info:Good to know before the race

  • Registration

    Registration is open until 12:00 on the day of the race, with reservation that the race may be sold out earlier. All registration are done via the website.

  • Start & Event area

    The start takes place at 13:00 at Götaplatsen, Avenyn. Music, warmup exercises and plenty of spectators will be there. The start is shared with men and women of all age groups starting simultaneously. In the finish line area by Slottsskogsvallen there’s food, music and an activity area.

  • Start certificate, Number bib & Bib distribution

    Your race certificate will be emailed to the address you provided during registration about 1 week before the race. The race certificate includes your race number and all the necessary information for the event. You can pick up your race bib Thursday-Saturday, May 15-17, at Göteborgsvarvet Expo in Friidrottens Hus: Thursday from 11:00-21:00, Friday from 10:00-21:00, and Saturday from 8:00. Be sure to arrive early and don't forget your race certificate! Remember that the start of Cityvarvet is at Götaplatsen in central Gothenburg, so make sure to pick up your race bib at Friidrottens Hus well in advance of the race start.

  • Changing rooms, Bag drop & Toilets

    In the start area at Götaplatsen, you can leave your bag until 12:30. The bags will then be transported to Preem at Margretebergsvägen, where you can collect your belongings after the race. We recommend that you arrive already dressed for the race, no changing rooms are provided in the start area. Toilets are available both in the start and finish areas. Showers are provided in connection to the finish area.

  • Warmup

    Warmup exercises are available at the start and will be led by instructors from STC.

  • Timekeeping

    Time is measured using an electronic chip in the number tag. The official time is the net time; from the start line to the finish line. If you are an amateur, you don't need to crowd at the start.

    For those who want to compete for top 3 in each age group, compete with gross time. Gross time is the start shot to the finish line. The first runner to cross the finish line wins, place yourself far forward at the start for the best conditions.

  • Competition / Award cermony

    Prize for the three fastest runners in each age group G/B15, G/B17, G/B19, Women and Men. The Award ceremony will be inside Slottsskogsvallen, in connection with the finish when the top 3 have crossed the finish line.

  • Medal / Maximum time

    Everyone who completes Cityvarvet will receive a medal.

    Maximum time for Cityvarvet is 50 minutes. You need to cross the finish line no later than 1:50 p.m. If runners are still on the course, they may have to interrupt their race when the elite field in Göteborgsvarvet is entering the finish area.

  • Getting Here & Parking

    Please use public transport to get to the start. The best stop for the start is Korsvägen. Search for your route in the Västtrafik app ToGo or on vasttrafik.se. We recommend looking for parking in the Parksters app. Note that there will be a lot of people in the city on race day, so make sure to plan your travel in advance.
